Instructional Leadership
I love books and I love sharing books with others!
An education leader promotes the success of every student by advocating, nurturing and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.
I believe in learning. I believe in striving for more and making the journey fun. I work collaboratively with others to accomplish school improvement goals. I use technology to design and evaluate instructional programs. I design systems based on assessment data and I provide feedback based on data. I use a variety of approaches to improve my performance and the performance of others around me.
How have I experienced Instructional Leadership?
I increased my knowledge of our school's teacher evaluation process.
I attended a workshop with our school's assistant principal and have discussed ways of enhancing the evaluation process in order to meet the needs of our staff and students. I observed a classroom with a department chairperson and discussed the evaluation process with the evaluator and the teacher being evaluated. This experience gave me insight into our school's evaluation process.
I increased my knowledge of various instructional programs offered within the school.
I worked to increase my knowledge in the area of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) programs in my building. I attended an MYP meeting on assessment and learned ways to implement a variety of assessment tools. I have spoken with our schools IB coordinators and learned about their roles within the school and with the teachers. I am trained in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) I.
I developed my leadership skills by working to ensure all teachers were appreciated throughout the year.
I worked with the Leadership Commission to develop a solid teacher recognition program. I worked with the student clubs and organized a program for them to respectfully honor their teachers throughout the school year. They made a schedule where each month one or two clubs worked to honor the teachers by providing coffee and donuts, note cards, or other special treats for the teachers.
