Visionary Leadership
Posing with my students during field day.
An education leader promotes the success of every student by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by all stakeholders.
I believe I am a visionary. I have the ability to see things in new and creative ways, and I motivate people to achieve success through my vision. I am someone who likes to challenge others, and myself, to be the best person he/she can be.
How have I experienced Visionary Leadership?
I organized and implemented a way for all student clubs to be successful in enrollment and sustainability.
I teamed up with another teacher leader in the building and we met with the Assistant Principal to develop a plan in order to work closer with the student clubs and to ensure their success. Over the course of three years, we have been working with the student club leaders in a mentoring program called Leadership Commission. Each club has a representative serve on the Commission. The Commission's goal is for the students to serve as liaisons between the students, their clubs, and the administration.
I developed a mentor-ship program for struggling students.
I met with thirteen students after school twice a week in order to help them get organized, learn better study skills, and gain confidence in the classroom. The students saw success in our meetings, developed friendships, and raised their grades. At the beginning of the program, the students were on academic probation, and because of our work they raised their grades and are doing better today.
